Has 2016 been like sitting an EXAM paper, one with the clock ticking down from the start - 1st January, until the 'caller' calls time -
"Ten minutes until your exam is over - 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....! Pens down please your YEAR is up, shut your paper as it is time to move on....!"
Was your 2016 like sitting an EXAM paper and if so how many 'questions' were included within the exam pages? Were some questions hard, some easy or maybe you just muddled through, so much so that you just want to screw up the paper and start all over again!
On any journey do you look back when travelling to your intended destination?
On any climb up a mountain do you look behind when reaching for the peak?
If you do then the destination would not be reached nor the peak attained so too if you regret or look behind will not your future be the past...?
Just as you cannot let the EXAM paper, which has been sat and the grade determined, shape your future so too can you not let the gravitational pull of the past year - those 'mistakes, failures, guilt, resentment, rejection, fear, hurt or pain' dictate your life!
Instead... cut the cord of negative thinking and regret as what has been done has been done!
Instead... cut the cord of 'I should have's', 'I wish' or... 'If only's' so that you can step forward onto your new tomorrow with a clean page and not one made up of:-
- questions and answers,
- right or wrong, or
- winners or losers.
We, each of us, have been given a personal gift and that is the 'gift of ourselves'.
So, leave the Examination of 2016 behind and set your own 'paper of life'. One that is not a closed examination with 'set questions' from the past but instead make it an open book, one free enough for you to grow, learn and celebrate your own uniqueness.
So, travel your own path by reading the questions of life and instead of answering them with the 'past' in mind, answer them in the way that is best for you!
The path we make is in many respects one of our own choosing - life can be unfair but how we choose to deal with what comes make a huge difference. So, let go of the Examination of 2016 and all those hard questions - those 'mistakes, failures, guilt, resentment, rejection, fear, hurt or pain' and instead choose to step out, positively, into the open book of 2017
