Silence is Golden... Or Is It?

Silence is Golden... Or Is IT?

'Silence is Golden'

Oh, don't it hurt deep inside
To see someone do something' to her?
Oh, don't it pain to see someone cry?
Oh, and especially when someone is her.

Silence is golden
But my eyes still see.
Silence is golden, golden;
But my eyes still see,

Talkin' is cheap, people follow like sheep
Even though there is nowhere to go.
How could she tell? He deceived her so well.
Pity she'll be the last one to know.

Silence is golden,
But my eyes still see.
Silence is golden, golden;
But my eyes still see.

How many times did she fall for his lies?
Should I tell her, or should I keep cool?
And if I tried, I know she'll say I lied
Mind your business, don't hurt her, you fool.

Silence is golden,
But my eyes' still see.
Silence is golden, golden;
But my eyes still see.

But my eyes' still see.
But my eyes' still see.

We all remember that beautiful and haunting song 'Silence is Golden' and YES while words can be cheap, deceptive full of lies and hurt, SO too can Silence...!

Yes, Silence can be Golden but there are many times when it is not!
In fact, silence can be down right deadly!

Silence is deadly when it is used in a :
-  passive way and in retaliation as a means of Emotional Blackmail, where the silence expresses anger, displeasure and cuts like a knife.

Silence is deadly when it is used as a:
-  weapon!
A weapon for ignoring a situation or a person or, taking responsibility, facing up to actions or non-action or the fallout of words ...!
This silence fails to acknowledge and hurts... and is often based upon that inability in people to address issues - whether they be based around relationships, work, money, sex, gambling or...
This silence can be so deadly as it can break people...
The silence is like an ostrich burying its head in the sand... if it keeps its head there too long it will suffocate!

Silence is deadly when :
-  the listener fails to defend a person against criticism, slander, rumours and character assassination.
This silence fails to defend... and is often based upon fear of alienation, rejection and taking that step out from the crowd.
This silence is so much more of a betrayal when the listener knows what is being said is, untrue and unwarranted!

Silence is deadly when it results in :
-  people making a decision by default - whether this is an en masse situation or not, the 'silent majority' usually indicates CONSENT - but how often this is silence and NOT consent.
Consent based upon,
fear...
or procrastination...
or apathy instead.
Too late... those who spoke out won and the minority ruled!

There is a time to be silent and a time to speak so...
have the courage of your convictions and break that silence!
Do not let fear guide you as once the moment is past it can never be returned...
Do not let silence be your companion but, instead, be brave and step out with your words...
you could save a relationship,
stop the hurt,
make a friend or,
 save a life!
Yes... there is a time to be silent and a time to speak...

Words fill the silence and can be wonderful things but, they can also be deadly -
cruel, hurtful, powerful, controlling and destroy.

Silence can be a wonderful thing but it can also be deadly -
an empty space where kind words are lacking and instead opens up a void...
a void that is cruel, hurtful, powerful, controlling and destructive.

So, let your words be kind and full of love...
and when there is silence let it be soft, gentle and full of hope!
